Hair transplant timeline

What to expect, from day one to month twelve.

  1. Day 1Procedure day

Performed under local anaesthesia. Mild swelling is possible; rest with your head elevated and follow the cleaning instructions.

  2. Days 2–3Early recovery

Some swelling or bruising may appear in the treated area, with mild discomfort.

  3. Days 4–7First wash & check-up

Small crusts form as follicles heal. A follow-up is made at the end of week one and you begin using the special shampoo.

  4. Week 2Scabs fall away

Healing continues beneath the surface. Light itching is normal — avoid scratching.

  5. Week 3Shock loss

Some transplanted hairs shed. This is completely normal (telogen effluvium) and prepares new growth.

  6. Month 1Settling in

Swelling and discomfort are gone; the scalp's overall condition keeps improving.

  7. Month 3New growth appears

New hair becomes visible and follicles grow stronger. The first results start to show.

  8. Month 6Density builds

Hair gains length and density; the overall look becomes clearly more defined and natural.

  9. Month 12Final result

Full growth and density are usually visible after one year.
